| About Us:
L.A.F.F.I.A. was founded in 1966. It is a professional nonprofit organization registered with the Louisiana Secretary of State Office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. L.A.F.F.I.A. was formed for the following purposes:
Executive Board: President – Lee Leach, Detective Sergeant / Alexandria Police Department Board of Directors: Norris Hull / Port Vincent Police Department
ABOUT L.A.F.F.I.A. MEMBERSHIP: The membership in this association is directed into two classes: Peace officers regularly employed by the federal government, state government, parish (county) government, and municipalities of the State of Louisiana or any other state. Special agents or persons in the employment of private/public industry. The duties of such personnel being in the investigation, identification, and/or prosecution of forgery and fraud offenders in the State of Louisiana or any other state. Membership dues are $20 per year or $40 for three years. Members do not have to be from the State of Louisiana. We have current members from surrounding states. The L.A.F.F.I.A. governing board members are selected via nomination and vote from the general membership. Governing board members serve without pay or salary on a voluntary basis. Members receive a quarterly newsletter with organization updates and current fraud and forgery trends. Members are eligible to attend the annual state training seminar and conference at an exceptional value. Certificates of training are awarded at the conclusion of the conference. This training is recognized as continuing education for law enforcement personnel. Training seminars are held in the spring of each year, usually in April, and and are conducted Wednesday thru Friday of the training week with an optional early registration held on Tuesday. Conference registration fee for members is $125 for the three day seminar which includes dinner on Wednesday night and Thursday breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Members may also submit an overview of a successful investigation case for review by the Board of Directors. If selected as the best case of the year, the member will receive a plaque and cash award of $100 from the organization. Door prizes are also a common event at the conference enjoyed by its members. Spouses and significant others of members are also welcome and are eligible to attend special functions, tours, etc., provided by the association during training class times on Thursdays. Members have access to contact information for all active members. Nonmembers may apply to attend the annual training seminar and conference. Registration fees are higher in price and the applicant must be approved to attend by the Board of Directors.
